Main Story Quests (MSQ)
Main story in Stalcraft is the same for both factions but sometimes takes players to different locations so as not to pit them against each other too often. MSQ can be distinguished from side quests by its yellow color markers. I highly recommend not to ignore it as it unlocks important features such as Caches and Signals as well as just gives generally decent rewards. Over the course of the story occasionally you will be asked to make choices, your choices do not affect your rewards but they do affect how immediate and some future encounters play out. For example, certain decisions in the middle portion of MSQ will allow you to entirely skip one of the boss fights. The only choice that affects your rewards is the very last choice but the difference is cosmetic only.
While I encourage everyone to finish MSQ on their own, I agree that some of the quests can be rather annoying or confusing (especially Kaa’s riddles), so here’re video guides to some of them(beware they are all in russian and old) :
- Kill the Beast.
- Kaa’s riddles (stalkers).
- Kaa’s riddles (bandits).
- Helicopter crash mission.
- *Also don’t farm any loot or bring with you anything apart from ammo and consumables when going for a main story quest because if you die inside a quest instance you will not be able to recover your stuff.
- **When tasked with going to the Radar make sure you have at least a couple of hours of spare time and bring an LMG with you! (both factions can get RPD from a quest in the Bar).
Side Quests
There are numerous side quests scattered across the Zone, some of them are accessible only for one of the factions while others are available for everyone or are mirrored. Side quests are indicated by purple exclamation marks and diamonds on the map however there are also quite a few secret side quests so explore the world and interact with NPCs and environment! Additionally unlike MSQ your choices during side quests do affect your rewards and it’s even possible to fail some of them so read carefully. One of the greatest examples of this is Freeman’s questline in Swamps with 4 different AKS-74u as possible rewards.
